All of us want to do what is best for our planet as we want to try and leave it is the best condition possible for the future generation. It is good to keep in mind that by doing small, everyday acts can lead to long term effects which could help our planet.
Be mindful
Being mindful of what you use is important. For example, instead of using regular toilet paper, you can try sustainable toilet paper instead. When grocery shopping instead of opting to take plastic, bags front the supermarket you can instead carry your own reusable bag.
You can even go one step further and not visit the supermarket at all and instead have the goods delivered to your home. This is helpful as it will then reduce the number of vehicles on the road as it can aid in reducing air pollution because the less vehicles on the road the less carbon dioxide is released into the air.
Less pollution
It is important to keep in mind that there are different types of pollution. This is important because if you stop going in a vehicle and instead carpool with friends as you want to reduce the air pollution you should keep in mind that there are other ways you can continue to pollution. For example, by throwing waste into the sea or keeping plastic bags or bottles on the beach you can be contributing to water pollution.
There are also little things that you can do around the house such as trying to conserve water. For example, if you are washing your hands, brushing your teeth, or doing the dishes trying and conserve as much water as you can is a good idea.
For instance, when applying soap on to your hands, instead of letting the water run while you are scrubbing your hands you can instead turn off the water, scrub your hands and then let the water run. It is important to ensure that you try to reduce all forms of pollution and not just one.
Educate yourself
Educating yourself on what exactly pollution is, the effects of pollution and what you can do to reduce it is important. There could be times where you are not aware you are polluting and harming the environment therefore you may continue to do it. However, by educating yourself you are making yourself aware of whether what you are doing is harming the environment or not.
Team work
Taking care of our planet should not be a one-person job but instead it should be a team effort. Therefore, whenever you can it is a good idea to get involved in projects that aim to look after our planet. For example, a project such as beach cleanups can do wonders for the environment.
A beach cleanup can reduce the number of plastic bags and cans being washed into the sea. This is turn can reduce the number of animal’s that consume the plastic or get caught up within the plastic. Therefore, doing what you can and working as a team to help preserve the environment can have positive effects on the planet.
